Building is located in Senjak, the historical-ambient part of Belgrade, which is firmly positioned in the history of the city's architecture. It was designed in such a way that it combines the function of family housing on several levels, considering the small area of the plot and the need for maximum utilization of it, in relation to urban planning parameters and the position of building lines.
The building is defined by its purpose, proportions and volume in an almost sculptural form in relation to the environment characterized by dilapidated Senjak residential houses with countless subsequent interventions. The position, spatial, form and functional aspects of the building were largely predetermined by the existing neighboring buildings (with auxiliary buildings of very poor creditworthiness), which are located immediately or on the very border of the plot in question. For this reason, the building is functionally oriented with all contents towards the inner open courtyard that passes through the building, extending along the entire plot.
The monumentality of the form is particularly highlighted through the design of the building, which is primarily characterized by a concrete membrane and a suspended brick cube positioned within the concrete membrane. Those two main spatial architectural elements, by their mutual relationship, define an open but intimate space within the plot, which is in direct connection with the free and transparent space of the ground floor where all the daily contents are located, thus forming a unique functional unit.
